Mounting your birdhouse on a post is one of the best solutions because the house has a stable foundation and you can control the height and location.
Step 1: Choose a post that fits the setting and the birdhouse. A metal post with a flange is a good choice if your house is relatively small and squirrels are a problem. A wood sapling will work because of its rustic look but will deteriorate over time. A 2x4 or 4x4 is also an alternative.
Step 2: To attach your birdhouse to a post first remove the bottom.
Step 3:Attach the bottom of the birdhouse securely to the post with 1 or 2 screws. (use small bolts, nuts and washers for the metal post with flange)
Step 4:Reattach the bottom of the birdhouse to the rest of the house.
Step 5: Place the post in a hole about 2-4 feet deep.
